ARTISTIC DIRECTOR & STAFF

Debra Pearse Rogo - Artistic Director

Debra brings to the Tri-Cities 25 years of experience as a dancer, choreographer, and teacher. A native of Australia, Debra was a soloist with the Sydney City Ballet, and as a dancer with Ballet Victoria in Melbourne, she danced with international ballet stars such as Mikhail Baryshnikov, Natalia Makarova, and Rudolf Nureyev.

Debra was the Artistic Director of Ballet Omaha, a fully professional company with its own company.  In that capacity, she choreographed several of her own works including a full length Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Graduation Ball, Giselle, and Raymonda

As Artistic Director of Mid-Columbia Ballet (MCB), Debra choreographs the annual Nutcracker and has added full-length productions of Giselle, Aladdin and many neo-classical works to the company’s repertoire. She has also collaborated on several projects with other local arts groups.

Under Debra's direction, the MCB hosted Regional Dance America/Pacific's Festival '90 and Festival '95, and Festival '05.  This event brought 24 amateur and professional ballet companies from seven western states and internationally know dance teachers and lecturers to the Tri-Cities for a four day convention.  In 1998, MCB was one of seven companies chosen to represent Regional Dance America in an exhibition performance at the International Ballet Competition. In 1999, MCB was invited to perform in Austria as part of Tanzsommer Austrian Arts Festival. Debra is the past Chairman of the Pacific region of Regional Dance America, and past President of Regional Dance America. Recently, Debra was asked to serve on the National Honorary Committee for the USA International Ballet Competitions.

Debra received her training in the Cecchetti (Italian) and Vaganova (Russian) methods of ballet. She is an Associate of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing of the Cecchetti Society and taught at such prestigious Australian ballet schools as the Essendon Academy of Ballet, Australian National Theatre, and the Victorian Ballet School. Since moving to the Tri-Cities, she has been a guest teacher at Michigan Classic Ballet, Ballet Arts in Spokane, Capital City Ballet in Boise, Regional Dance America/Pacific Festival '91 in Tacoma and '92 in Boise, Summer Dance Lab at Whitman College, Ballet Unlimited, Central West Ballet, San Jose Dance Theatre, Santa Cruz Ballet Theatre, Sacramento Ballet and City Ballet School in California, and the University of Louisville.
