ARTISTIC DIRECTOR & STAFF Debra Pearse Rogo - Artistic Director
Debra was the Artistic Director of Ballet Omaha, a fully professional company with its own company. In that capacity, she choreographed several of her own works including a full length Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Graduation Ball, Giselle, and Raymonda. As Artistic Director of Mid-Columbia Ballet (MCB), Debra choreographs the annual Nutcracker and has added full-length productions of Giselle, Aladdin and many neo-classical works to the company’s repertoire. She has also collaborated on several projects with other local arts groups. Under Debra's direction, the MCB hosted Regional Dance America/Pacific's Festival '90 and Festival '95, and Festival '05. This event brought 24 amateur and professional ballet companies from seven western states and internationally know dance teachers and lecturers to the Tri-Cities for a four day convention. In 1998, MCB was one of seven companies chosen to represent Regional Dance America in an exhibition performance at the International Ballet Competition. In 1999, MCB was invited to perform in Austria as part of Tanzsommer Austrian Arts Festival. Debra is the past Chairman of the Pacific region of Regional Dance America, and past President of Regional Dance America. Recently, Debra was asked to serve on the National Honorary Committee for the USA International Ballet Competitions. Debra received her training in the Cecchetti
(Italian) and Vaganova (Russian) methods of ballet. She is an
Associate of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing of the Cecchetti
Society and taught at such prestigious Australian ballet schools as the Essendon
Academy of Ballet, Australian National Theatre, and the Victorian Ballet
School. Since moving to the Tri-Cities, she has been a guest teacher at Michigan
Classic Ballet, Ballet Arts in Spokane, Capital City Ballet in Boise, Regional
Dance America/Pacific Festival '91 in Tacoma and '92 in Boise, Summer Dance Lab
at Whitman College, Ballet Unlimited, Central West Ballet, San Jose Dance
Theatre, Santa Cruz Ballet Theatre, Sacramento Ballet and City Ballet School in
California, and the University of Louisville.
Torrie
Ransom is the Artistic Assistant for the Mid-Columbia Ballet (MCB), in that
capacity she directs the MCB Petite Company.
Torrie studied ballet for twelve years; she danced with the MCB Junior
Company for two years and then went on to dance with the Senior Company for five
more years. During that time she
attended the Regional Dance America Craft of Choreography Conference as a
scholarship dancer for the summers of 2003 and 2004.
In the summer of 2004 she also attended the Teachers Intensive Workshop
at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
This summer Torrie had the opportunity to attend the International Ballet
Competition in
