| REGIONAL DANCE AMERICA Regional
Dance America (RDA) was founded in 1988 to promote the artistic
development of dance companies throughout the United States, continuing the important
work that was started in 1956 by the National
Association of Regional Ballet (NARB). The NARB contributed to the
decentralization of dance and, under its auspices, regional companies grew in
stature and quality nationwide. The five regional organizations of RDA are the Pacific,
Southwest, Mid-States, Northeast, and Southeast. Mid-Columbia Ballet has been a member of the Pacific Region of Regional Dance America since 1987. We have achieved RDA's highest ranking of "Honor Company" status every year since 1990. Each year, members of Mid-Columbia Ballet attend the Regional Dance America/Pacific (RDA/P) Festival where they share four days of classes, lectures, seminars and social events with dancers from other member companies. Evening performances are held showcasing the member companies, demonstrating the growth they have achieved throughout the year. Mid-Columbia Ballet has hosted the annual RDA/P Festival in Richland three times, in 1990, 1995, and 2005. Richland will once again be the location of the RDA/P Festival in 2010.
