Ballet Beyond the Studio

Next Up: A Sensory Friendly Performance of The Jungle Book

March 17th, 2018 at 4:00pm

Richland High School

Registration Required

Mid-Columbia Ballet will turn on the lights, lower the music and invite children with special needs and their family to a sensory-friendly performance of the The Jungle Book. This relaxed 30-minute performance has been specially created to serve families with children who have autism and related sensory disorders. This performance has no cost for families, but we request that each family register and complete a form.

What makes this performance friendly to the senses? In addition to the adjusted volumes of light and sound, your family can experience the show in their own way. The theatre will be a "shush-free zone", meaning that if the member of your group needs to move around or make sounds during the show they are free to do so. This inclusive setting will also feature a break area in the lobby. Finally, a week before the show, all registered guests will receive an email with an electronic copy of a pre-visit story that you can review with your family members prior to arriving at the theatre.

Please contact our staff if you have any questions or concerns prior to the performance by emailing or calling 509-946-5417.
